Children's Programs

Our Baby Story Time with Sharon McCrum brings learning techniques to begin the process of raising a reader. Baby Story Time is held Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.  *Find us on Facebook under Waldport Public Library Children's Program.

Baby Story Time will resume August 22, 2018, after our Summer Reading Program.  

Our Preschool Story Time program is geared to children from the ages 2 to 7 years old. This program promotes listening, learning, and interaction with other children. Toddlers are asked to bring an adult lap. Story Time is held Thursdays at 2pm., direct any questions to library staff at 541-563-5880.

Preschool Story Time will resume August 23, after out Summer Reading Program.

Hands-On- Thursdays for all Ages!!

Thursday, July 5, 10 a.m.: Annual Field Day at the Shelter Me Garden with Seashore Family Literacy. Play old-fashioned outdoor games, earn new books, and have a FREE lunch. For kids birth through 18. Families welcome.

Thursday, July 12, 2 p.m.: Juggling Fun!! Learn to juggle, play card games, with teen volunteer, Red Husband, and teacher, Colt Reece. Hacky Sacks, scarves, and other Free skill-building supplies. 

Thursday, July 19, 2 p.m.:  Plein Air Art Day (weather permitting). Paint on canvas, rocks, paper, wood. Pop Up Art stations. Help from local artists. Supplies provided.

Thursday, July 26, 2 p.m.: Ukulele concert and workshop. Kids through teens. Make “box-ukes.” Learn from a local group of dedicated Seashore Family Literacy ukulele musicians.

Thursday Night, July 26, at 4:00 p.m.: Annual Big Truck Night with RC Car Demonstration, at the Waldport Community Center.

Thursday, August 2, 2 p.m.: Comedy-Mystery-Improv. With a local students’ script the Library will Rock with laughter. Lots of parts. Learn the basics of theatre production from theatre students. A Writing Adventure Camp Adventure from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Practice until 3:30: Production, 3:30 until 4p.m.. Free popcorn.

Thursday, August 9, 2 p.m.: Hands-On with local animals! Trick dog “Koby” AKA Puppy Einstein. Birds with Avarie, Riley the Library Dog and friends. K & R Ranch- goats and ducks. A 4H Lincoln County Extension Round-Up Day!

Thursday, August 16, 2 p.m: Cake and Cupcake Decorating with Lindsey Bales & Misty Trammell. Cooking tips from Teen Cook & Volunteer Morgan. Finish the summer with new culinary skills. Take home something yummy. 

Stories to Go are backpacks full of books, finger-plays, songs, videos, audio cassettes, and craft ideas. Each kit is organized around a specific theme such as: Friends, Jungles, Animals, Oceans, Things that Go, and more. The Stories to Go are developed by the Lincoln County Library District to provide access to quality library materials for all: children, parents, guardians, child care givers and Preschools. To search and reserve Stories to Go, on our online catalog, go to www.chinooklibraries.org . In the Basic Search area choose Series, and then type in Stories to Go. You will then be directed to Stories to Go themed backpacks, where you can then place a reserve.
