Mondays at 3pm:  Chess Club at 3 p.m., 2nd grade to high school.

Twice-a-Month on Wednesday:  RC Car Club for 4th –teens, 3 pm. 

Every Other Monday:  Crochet Club, 4 p.m., 4th grade to high school.

Tuesdays, 10 a.m.:  Little Bugs’ Club Story Time, toddlers through third grade, no sign up.

Tuesdays, Once-a-Month, 10 am:  Baby Story Time May to Aug., newborn to three years. 

Summer Reading Programs @ the Library!! 

For August, turn in tickets from badges before Wednesday, August 17. Drawings will be August 18. Volunteer awards and lunch Wednesday, August 17, at 11 am.

Tues., Aug. 2—Fri., Aug. 5, Young Writers’ Adventure Camp, 11:30-3 pm. For youth that love to write, 7 years to teen. Notebooks supplied, Meet up at different adventure spots each day. Parent/Guardians are requested on field trips. Please bring journals, too! Otherwise, permission slips are needed.  

Young Writers’ Adventure Camp!

  • Tues., August 2, 11:30 am- 3 pm. Meet us at Governor Patterson State Park. Please bring your journal and a pen. You will also need sunscreen, a hat, shorts, towel, flip flops, a snack, and a reusable water bottle.
  • Wed., August 3, 11:30 am- 3 pm. Meet at the Waldport Library for this day’s writing camp adventure. There will be a Write-a-thon, learning about and checking out Resources, stories through drawings, poems, and essays. We will be planning a “team” book. There will be a break for a sack lunch. 
  • Thurs., August 4, 11:30 am- 3 pm. Meet us at the Waldport Library to caravan to Cape Perpetua. Bring your journal and pen. A snack is provided. Bring a reusable water bottle, shorts if warm, sunscreen, a hat, and wear shoes for hiking.
  • Fri., August 5, 11:30 am- 3 pm. Meet us at the Waldport Library to caravan to Nye Beach/Sylvia Beach Hotel. Bring your journal, a pen, and spending money. You will need a reusable water bottle, shorts if warm, sunscreen, and a hat. Watch for Surprises!

Tues., Aug. 9—Fri., Aug. 12, WPL Chess and Board Game Camp, learn to play or hone your skills. Prep to play tournaments. Enjoy board games in-between chess matches, 11:30 to 2 p.m., 7 to teens.

  • Tues., August 9, 11 am- 2 pm. The day begins with meeting chess coach(es), introductions, and rules of chess etiquette. Today, there will be magnet board lesson, magnet board open play, and partner chess playing. Later, at 1 pm, students can choose chess or board game playing.
  • Wed., August 10, 11 am- 2 pm. Day starts with greeting coach(es) and setting up chess boards. There will be a magnet board lesson, magnet board open play, and partner chess playing. Later, at 1 pm, students can choose chess or board game playing.
  • Thurs., August 11, 11:00 am- 2 pm. The day begins with greeting coach(es) and setting up chess boards. There will be a magnet board lesson, magnet board open play, partner chess playing, and talk about Friday Chess Tournament. Later, at 1 pm, students can choose chess or board game playing.
  • Fri., August 12, 11 am- 2 pm. Day starts with greeting coach(es) and setting up chess boards. There will be a magnet board lesson, magnet board open play, partner chess playing, the finding of a designated tournament opponent. A discussion will take place about the Chess Club's future and tournament opportunities.

Tues., July 5 - Fri.,July 8 Cooking Camp- Learn basic cooking skills, budgeting, menus, Cozy Mystery Bake Off, gardening, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 6 to teens.

  • Tues, July 5, 11 am- 1 pm. Learn how to make Menus, Talk about Recipes, Organize, Listen to the chef, Cook, and Clean Up. Check out a Cookbook, Decide what to bake, and get ready for the Cozy Mystery Recipe Bake-Off Friday, July 8.
  • Wed, July 6, 11 am- 1 pm. Walk to Seashore JOY Garden, Presentation by Senitila, let’s talk Nutrition, Gather vegetables, a Picnic, Clean Up, and walk back to the library.
  • Thurs, July 7, 11 am- 1 pm. Learn how to make Menus, Talk about Recipes, Organize, Listen to the Chef, Cook, and Clean Up. Check out a Cookbook, Decide what to bake, Bake for the Cozy Mystery Recipe Bake-Off, Friday, July 8, from 11 am-1 pm. See you tomorrow with your Baked Recipe entry.
  • Fri, July 8, 11 am- 1 pm. Cozy Mystery Recipes Bake-Off! Bring in your Baked Good item with entry card. Place on table in your division, Compile “Cookie Jar” while you wait for judges’ decision. Enjoy the Birthday Cake!

Tues., July 11–Fri., July 15: Waldport Library CTE (Career Technical Education) Camp- Welcome back Big Trucks Night (all ages), learn about Car Maintenance Skills, R.C. Cars, Drones, How to Skills, starting at 11:30 a.m. 4th grade to high school.

  • Tuesday, July 12, 4 pm- 8 pm. Lincoln County Library District All-Libraries QUEST DAY at Big Creek Park Shelter. All Ages Pick up your Quest Book at the library.
  • Wed., July 13, 11:30 am- 2 pm. RC Car Day, at the RC Race Park, with John & Sue. There will be demonstrations, a project, races, and club talk. 4th grade to teen.
  • Thurs., July 14, 5 pm- 7 pm. Welcome back to BIG Truck night! For all ages. Join us for Big Truck vehicles, demonstrations, and ASPIRE Career Guidance.
  • Fri., July 15, 2 pm- 4 pm. 4th grade to high school. Educational and learning fun with automobiles at the Waldport Community Center. Learn how to do an oil change, what’s under the hood, how to check vehicle fluids, “Reading Your Car,” and learn to check tire pressure.  
  • Sun., July 17— Sat., July 30, P.O.A (Personal Outdoor Adventure Weeks). Sign up and pick up a field book/scrapbook. Earn badges by going on adventures and vacations. Visit Oregon State parks in our area and around the state or in your own neighborhood! 

Monday, July 18, 4:30- 6:30 pm- Art Club & Crafts for Teens and Adults, at the Waldport Library. Sign up at the library. Enjoy creating art fun!  

Waldport Public Library P.O.A. (Personal Outdoor Adventure) Weeks!

  • Sign up & Keep Track of your personal outdoor adventures for two weeks.
  • Pick up a Field Book Scrapbook. Check Out a Citizen Science Kit, Adventure books, Hiking books, and Travel books.
  • After your adventures stop by the Waldport Library- tell us your adventures! Earn your badge!

Join the Waldport Library in the OUR Parks Camp! All Ages invited.

  • Wed., June 29, 10 am- 12 pm. Lets talk about State, Local, National Parks with Park Rangers. What they do and how to be one. Our Park Ranger will also speak about BLM land areas. There will also be Bee Pollinator Specialists to speak about Bees & Butterflies. Snack provided.
  • Thurs., June 30, 10 am- 12 pm. Today’s event, presented by specialists in the field, will focus on Wildfire Prevention (how to help) and the Wildlife & Fish in our area. Watch for Smokey Bear! Snack provided.
  • Fri., July 1, 10 am- 12 pm. Today’s program invites you to 4H & Scouts, the Oregon State Extension Office, Riley the Reading Dog and Pet Partner Friends.
