Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Waldport Public Library. Meet at the Waldport Community Center, 265 NW Hemlock St. (Hwy 34), Waldport, Oregon. For more information contact the Waldport Public Library, 541 563-5880.
Eric’s wife, Carolyn, grew up in Waldport. The two met as teenagers and their journey through life has taken them to Tennessee. They grew into their professions over the last 20 years as a professional writer, and Carolyn, as a professional singer. For the last year, they have been traveling the country. In March 2022, they found themselves in Waldport. Carolyn decided to take a friend to visit her childhood home. After knocking on the door of her former home, Carolyn introduced themselves to Sharon McCrum, the Family Outreach Coordinator of the Waldport Public Library. In 1994, McCrum’s family bought their home from Carolyn’s parents through a realtor. By knocking on the door, a connection and friendship was formed which led to meeting Eric.
After a conversation with Eric about the books he has written, he agreed to meet with the Young Writers’ group at the Waldport Public Library and give encouragement and instruction. It was a wonderful meeting. Because of this, Eric was asked to come speak to writers in the community and Lincoln County and share his journey in writing.
McCrum says, “If you love to read, if you want to write, or you want to meet an author who is as interesting as the variety of books he writes, well, this is the evening for you.”
Because of this, Eric was asked to come speak to writers in the community and Lincoln County and share his journey in writing.
From his website WilsonWriter.com, Eric states, “From an early age, I wanted to be a writer. I never knew I would become a NY Times bestselling author, nearing one million books in print in over a dozen languages.” Two of Eric’s thriller books are set in Oregon: Dark to Mortal Eyes, is set at Heceta Head and Expiration Date, is set in Junction City. These books fall in the category of Eric’s “dark” books. On the “light” side, Eric writes books like Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and Flywheel. All these books are popular, inspirational movies. Eric is the author that is commissioned to take the Kendrick brothers’ screenplays and turn them into full-length novels. His most recent non-fiction memoir book titled “American Leftovers” is written with his siblings, Shaun Wilson and Heidi Wilson Messner. It is due to release in 2023. Eric Wilson also leads writers’ retreats, including one being held at the Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport on the days following An Evening with an Author.
